One of the most widely felt side effects of the coronavirus is uncertainty. To ensure your patients understand all the current information concerning your dental office and your dental services correctly, you need to know the vocabulary to be able to communicate with your patient. Following we have prepared a list of helpful terms.

About the Dental Office

Vorkehrungen treffen – to take precautions

vorübergehend Praxisschließung – temporary office closure

Sonder-Öffnungszeiten – special opening times

nicht notwendige Zahnbehandlung – non-essential dental care

Notfall – emergency

ansteckend – contagious

Ansteckungsrisiko – risk of contagion

zu verbreiten – to spread

Übertragung – transmission

Hochrisikopatient – high risk patient / people at high risk

 

Hygiene Measures

zu desinfizieren – to disinfect

Handhygiene – hand hygiene

Handdesinfektionsmittel – hand sanitizer

Händewaschen – washing your hands

soziale Distanzierung – social distancing or physical distancing

2 Meter Abstand halten – keep 2 meters distance

Arbeitsunfähigkeitsbescheinigung – sick leave certificate

Atemnot – shortness of breath

Fieber – fever

Lungenentzündung – inflammation of the lungs

Müdigkeit – fatigue

laufende Nase – runny nose

Kratzen im Hals – itchy throat

Übelkeit – nausea

Frösteln – shivering

Schüttelfrost – shivering attack

grippeähnliche Symptome – flu-like symptoms

 

Protective Materials

Mundschutz – medical or surgical masks, facemask

Atemschutzmaske, z. B. PPE – respirator

Beatmungsgerät – ventilator

PPE – personal protective equipment

Desinfektionsmittel – disinfectant

Handschuhe – gloves

Schürze – apron

Schutzkittel – isolation gown, protective gown
